🌱🍯🌳 Exciting Announcement: Joint Research Project by Fujairah Research Centre and ICARDA Presented at EGU General Assembly 2024! 🌳🍯🌱
We are thrilled to announce that our joint research project between Fujairah Research Centre and ICARDA has been accepted and scheduled for presentation at the EGU General Assembly 2024. Our abstract, EGU24-20020 titled "Enhancing Vegetation Cover in Fujairah through Sustainable Honey Tree Plantations and Water Harvesting Technique: A Multi-Criteria Suitability Mapping" by Youssouf Belaid et al., will be featured in the session HS8.3.7 - Soil hydrology and irrigation for sustainable food production in a global climate change context.
This project marks a significant step forward in our efforts to address the challenges of sustainable food production in the face of climate change. By focusing on enhancing vegetation cover in Fujairah through the establishment of sustainable honey tree plantations and innovative water harvesting techniques, we aim to not only mitigate environmental degradation but also promote agricultural resilience and food security in the region.
Through extensive research and analysis, our team has developed a multi-criteria suitability mapping approach to identify optimal locations for honey tree plantations and water harvesting infrastructure. This approach integrates various factors such as soil quality, water availability, topography, and climatic conditions to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of our interventions.
The presentation of our research at the EGU General Assembly provides a valuable opportunity to share our findings, exchange knowledge and experiences with fellow researchers and experts in the field, and foster collaboration towards addressing the complex challenges of soil hydrology, irrigation, and sustainable food production in a changing climate.
We invite all attendees of the EGU General Assembly to join us in session HS8.3.7 and learn more about our innovative research project aimed at enhancing vegetation cover in Fujairah and advancing sustainable agriculture practices. Together, we can work towards a more resilient and sustainable future for generations to come.
